Thomaï Serdari on Fine Arts & Luxury

Fine and Rare Books are a true indulgence particularly when they document customs that are now long forgotten.  Right now, I am thrilled to hold in my hands a beautiful antique book printed in London in 1705. The book title is “The Three Years Land Travels of His Excellency E. Ysbrant Ides from Mosco to China, To Which is added a New Description of that vast Empire written by a Native.”

The quality of the paper is still pretty good and the prints included in this edition as illustrations are in very good condition. The leather binding is slightly dried out but also in good condition.

The only improvement I could think of is a new, full leather binding by Asprey. The luxury house has its own Fine and Rare Book Department that offers an eclectic range of first and limited editions dating from the 17th century to the present day. According to the company’s website, if a particular title or author is not in their stock, Asprey would be delighted to do a search on the client’s behalf.
