Roger Vivier at auction

“Mimosa” high boot. Design by Vivier. Emroidery by Lesage.

French auction house Aguttes, in the Paris suburb of Neuilly-sur-Seine has announced the auction sale of about 400 rare lots from the private collection of shoe designer Roger Vivier. The lots include the designer’s sketches and prototypes for unique creations made for celebrities, including Elizabeth Taylor, Brigitte Bardot, John Lennon, and Cary Grant.  The bidding set to begin at 100 Euros (about $132) is capped by a high estimate of 800 Euros ($1060) for the most elaborate prototypes, such as embroidered high boots as shown in the picture here. How high can the prices get depends, of course, on collectors’ willingness to fight over the acquisition of such cherished items. For more information, visit the Aguttes website.
